Sudah bukan rahasia lagi kalau Blackberry menjadi smartphone yang paling banyak peminatnya dan menempati peringkat teratas di Indonesia saat ini. BlackBerry sanggup menggeser posisi Nokia yang selama ini selalu menduduki peringkat teratas di pasar smartphone Indonesia.

Hal ini berbanding terbalik dengan keadaan pasar smartphone secara global. Dari survey yang dilakukan oleh Lembaga riset Canalys, pada kuartal pertama 2010 Nokia masih merajai pasar dunia dengan pangsa pasar 38,8 persen atau penjualan sekitar 21,4 juta unit. BlackBerry berada persis di bawahnya, dengan meraih 19,2 persen pangsa pasar dengan penjualan 10,5 juta unit.

Jika di Amerika Serikat pertarungan sengit antar smartphone terjadi antara iPhone dan Blackberry, bisa dikatakan di Indonesia hanya handset besutan RIM saja yang melenggang sendiri. Ini terbukti dengan ada seorang penjual handphone terbaru yang mengungkapkan bahwa dalam sehari BlackBerry-nya bisa laku lima sampai enam unit, sedangkan iPhone hanya 1 unit saja.
